Verksmiðjan Hjalteyri
Stream is a site specific installation created for a group exhibition at Verksmiðjan, an old herring factory in North Iceland that has been turned into a contemporary art space. The work consists of six ropes drawn by motors between two floors in the middle of the building. The movements of the ropes, which are white with painted dark blue surfaces, form a drawing in the space where they flow continuously through the openings in the floor. The constant flowing movement refers to the previous operation of the building, where the herring used to flow through the house between floors and processing spaces according to a predetermined system.
